Do you love puzzles, magic, or testing your wits against a terrifying foe bent on your destruction? Join the Library for its first-ever digital escape room!
You can complete this escape room as a group or as an individual. You can compete against friends (or enemies) and try it multiple times. This escape room is intended for adults and teens, but children are more than welcome to test their mettle. Just make sure you have fun!
Monroe County tweens (ages 7–11) are invited to contribute to making an online Tween Quaranzine to document how you, the community’s young people, are responding to these strange times of quarantine and social distancing in the face of COVID-19. To participate, you may contribute an 8.5” x 5.5” page. All ideas that highlight the community and uplift your voices are encouraged and welcome. The Library will accept writing (250 words or less), artwork, comics, photography, recipes, tutorials, and/or a combination of all of these––really anything goes as long as it can be represented on paper. Your pages will be compiled and made publicly available on the Library’s website as one zine! Submissions for Volume 1 are due by June 28. The completed zine will be published on the Library website on July 6. Submissions for Volume 2 are due by July 31 and will be published on August 7. More information, a parent permission and entry form, and complete guidelines can be found here.

This live workshop presented over Zoom will shed light on the various frauds and scams that target older adults. Participants will learn what to look for that might indicate a scam, how to verify if a sales pitch or request for information is legitimate, and what to do if you or someone you care for has been taken advantage of. Age 18 & up. A partnership between Monroe County Extension Office and the Library.
