Imagine Your Story: Choose an Adventure

Interested in participating in a choose-an-adventure-style story that you play via email? You, the hero, will explore classic Scottish myths, fairy tales, and folklore as you select your path. Will you save an ailing princess, recover the selkies’ skin, and live your life in peace and content? Or will you meet your doom as you encounter fabulous creatures and fabled beasts? You decide! Ages 7–12.

To participate in this program, ask a parent or guardian to register you here. Registration will be open June 24 through July 17. On July 6, you'll receive an email with the first part of the story and will need to make your first decision to receive your next part. You’ll respond with your choice and within 48 hours, Monday–Friday, Library staff will respond with your next segment. The game ends when you’ve finished the story or on July 31, whichever comes first!
Cardinal Stage Presents: Family Photo Challenge

Imagine your story with Cardinal Stage! Recreate the classic folktale of "Goldilocks and the Three Bears" using just 10 original photos. Get creative with costumes, locations, and props, and share your story on social media for a chance to win a gift card to Mother Bear's Pizza. Post your photo story by July 31 on Instagram or Facebook to enter to win. To qualify, you must tag Cardinal Stage (@cardinalstage) and use the hashtag #cardinalchallenge. At the beginning of August, Cardinal will announce the winner and post the winning story! Download and read a copy of the story. You can also find various eBook versions of "Goldilocks and the Three Bears" instantly available on Hoopla Kids. All ages.

We will post photos of shelves of books in the store. Browse the photos and send an email to us with the titles you would like. We will email you the total price of your order and a link where you can make a payment online. You will be able to pick up your books in the vestibule area of the Main Library on Kirkwood during normal curbside pickup hours. If you are not able to or are not comfortable going inside the vestibule to pick up your books, please let us know in the email, and we will make other accommodations. We have considered local delivery for a fee if that is an option you would like.
Hardcover books for adults are $3 each; Paperback books are $1.50 each. Children's and Young Adult books are 75 cents for paperbacks and $1.50 for hardcover books.

While we can't meet for Talking Tacos, the Library has partnered with Middle Way House to do an Ask Me Anything-style event. Fill out this form with your questions about relationships, dating, or any other tough topics, then tune into the Zoom meeting to hear the answers. You do not have to submit a question to attend this program. Please register with your first name and last initial only (do not enter email or phone number) to preserve anonymity. This program will be recorded for future viewing on the Library's YouTube channel. Attendees will be able to see and hear the presenters, but audio and video for attendees will be disabled to preserve anonymity.
