Cardinal Stage Presents: Family Photo Challenge

Imagine your story with Cardinal Stage! Recreate the classic folktale of "Goldilocks and the Three Bears" using just 10 original photos. Get creative with costumes, locations, and props, and share your story on social media for a chance to win a gift card to Mother Bear's Pizza. Post your photo story by July 31 on Instagram or Facebook to enter to win. To qualify, you must tag Cardinal Stage (@cardinalstage) and use the hashtag #cardinalchallenge. At the beginning of August, Cardinal will announce the winner and post the winning story! Download and read a copy of the story. You can also find various eBook versions of "Goldilocks and the Three Bears" instantly available on Hoopla Kids. All ages.

Dial-a-Book: Classic Tales of Adventure, Romance, and Wonder

Virtual Book Sale

We're bringing the shelves of books in the Friends Bookstore to the comfort of your own home for browsing!

Visit our Virtual Book Sale:

Choose that you are "Interested" or "Going" to the Facebook event, and you will be notified when we post more photos from different genres of books.

To see the photos, remember to click on "Discussion" when you visit the Facebook event!

We will post photos of shelves of books in the store. Browse the photos and send an email to us with the titles you would like. We will email you the total price of your order and a link where you can make a payment online. You will be able to pick up your books in the vestibule area of the Main Library on Kirkwood during normal curbside pickup hours. If you are not able to or are not comfortable going inside the vestibule to pick up your books, please let us know in the email, and we will make other accommodations. We have considered local delivery for a fee if that is an option you would like.

Hardcover books for adults are $3 each; Paperback books are $1.50 each. Children's and Young Adult books are 75 cents for paperbacks and $1.50 for hardcover books.

Dine Out for the Library at DeAngelo's on Tuesdays, July 21 and 28. When you order, please mention that you are dining out for the Friends of Monroe County Public Library. DeAngelo's will donate a portion of your purchase to the Friends to make wonderful Library programs and services possible. For curbside pickup and delivery orders, you can phone in your order at (812) 961-0008. You may also order online at https://www.deangelosbloomington.com/ between 2 pm and 8 pm. Remember to note that you are a Friend of the Library!

DeAngelo's is offering inside dining, curbside pickup, and delivery. Here is a note from the owner regarding DeAngelo’s Covid-19 Protocol commitment:

"DeAngelo’s is excited to announce we will be open for dine-in starting Monday, June 15th, 2020. We are taking the safety of our patrons and employees very seriously. At this point in time our communities’ well-being is of the highest importance. DeAngelo’s is going beyond the Monroe County and Indiana’s guidelines to ensure the upmost safety during your dining experience with us. Here is what to expect:

• When you arrive please call us at 812.961.0008 to inquire about our seating availability. We encourage reservations and call ahead seating.
• All employees and patrons will have their temperature checked by an infrared no-contact thermometer upon entry into our establishment.
• Employees are to self-report any covid-like symptoms and self-isolate for 10 days following any symptoms.
• Patrons with any covid-like symptoms will be asked to use our curb-side carryout or contactless delivery options.
• All employees will be required to wear masks.
• All seats, menus, tables, etc… will be sanitized after each use and additionally, all high use areas will be sanitized on the hour.
• DeAngelo’s will follow all guidelines for reopening in regards to occupancy levels.
• Tables will be placed 6ft apart and we ask guests to keep a safe distance as best they can.
• Only tables that are designated by our employees will be available for seating.

While we will not be requiring patrons to wear masks, we highly encourage their use and ask all patrons to recognize and maintain 6ft of distance between groups of people while in our dining area and lobby. We appreciate everyone’s support and courtesy to others while dining with us. Please do not hesitate to direct any questions or concerns to our management.
