Story Spoons: The Very Lonely Firefly
Saturday, December 05, 2020
10:30 AM - 11:30 AM
All Branches
Teachers and caregivers will learn how to make story spoons, which can be used to help emerging readers retell stories. Retelling stories is a great way to enhance story comprehension, increase vocabulary, build expressiveness, and involve emerging readers in the act of storytelling. Young children can participate in the act of storytelling by retelling well-known or predictable stories but may need the support of manipulatives. There are many storytelling manipulatives on the market, such as puppets, or felt story kits, but here you can make your own! Participants in this Zoom program will be given the supplies to make a set of story spoons for Eric Carle's The Very Lonely Firefly. Supplies need to be picked up at the Library between November 30–December 3.
