Imagine your story with Cardinal Stage! Recreate any favorite folktale of your choosing using ten original photos for a chance to win a $50 gift card to Lennie's! Read the story, asking your kids to listen for the most important characters, events, and plot points, then work together to plan out your photos. Post your photo story by January 3 on Instagram or Facebook to enter to win. To qualify, you must tag Cardinal Stage (@cardinalstage) and use the hashtag #cardinalchallenge. You can use Hoopla to find various eBook versions of popular tales, such as "The Gingerbread Man" or "Stone Soup" or ask your librarians to pick out some folktales for you with this recommendation form. Guided by an instructional video that we'll send to you on December 11, you'll use free 3D modeling software (Tinkercad) at your home (or on a Library computer) to design your own customized item to print. We'll provide instructions for emailing your design file to us before January 4 so your design can be printed in the Library. Once your design is printed, it will be yours to keep! Ages 7–12.  ***Please register with a valid, non-school email address by December 10.***

*Space is limited. Please only register if you have time to complete and send your design to the Library by January 4. Kids should be able to complete the project on their own but may benefit from adult help. To create the design, kids will need to be able to use a mouse. The instructional video will inform them about the various tools available in Tinkercad, many of which are similar to other computer software where you can draw or create shapes. Participants will be notified when the print is ready to pick up. Please allow 3-4 weeks.

Compose Yourself: Group Therapy for NaNoWriMo Writers: Thank Goodness It's Over Party!

Every November, National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo) challenges writers to write a 50,000-word novel in 30 days. Whether this is your first try or your tenth, these weekly hangouts can help you get advice, meet other local writers, play games, and take a much-needed breather. Registered participants will receive a NaNoWriMo survival kit which includes supplies, a month-long game, and the opportunity to win a grand prize (while supplies last)! On December 10, you'll celebrate your accomplishments at the virtual Thank Goodness It's Over party. Age 15 and up. 

*** Please register with a valid email address once for The Kickoff Event; once for all Hangout sessions; and once for the Thank Goodness It's Over Party (a total of three registrations). Links for each Zoom session will be emailed to you upon registration***
