Volunteer Docent Training for Our Voice Exhibit

11:00 AM - 12:30 PM
Volunteer for Our Voice Exhibit
Downtown Library
The Friends of the Library will host the inaugural Marian Armstrong exhibit at the Downtown Branch of Monroe County Public Library. We are delighted to bring to Monroe County this special exhibit curated by the National Center for Children’s Illustrated Literature. Our Voice features 34 illustrations of the award winners since 1973. There will be activities and programs for all ages.

The success of our exhibit will require volunteers to help us provide the best experience for our visitors. We ask for your assistance by signing up for one or more shifts as a volunteer exhibit docent. The Our Voice exhibit will be open to the public from February 1-March 20: Mondays-Thursdays 3-7 PM, Fridays-Sundays 1-5 PM. Individuals or group volunteers will be welcome. Volunteer scheduling will be for two-hour time periods, but we welcome volunteers to work as many hours and days as you would like during the exhibit. Learn more, choose your days and shifts, and sign up here: mcpl.info/OurVoiceVolunteer

Volunteers are needed as greeters, to answer questions, and to provide directional guidance to visitors. The Library will provide a brief training and orientation before the event, and all volunteers will be given a volunteer badge to wear. All volunteers must be at least 16 years of age and fill out a library volunteer application if you have not done so already. If unsure, contact volunteer@mcpl.info or 812-349-3060 or 812-349-3050 ext. 1000.

If you might be interested, please attend one of the two scheduled orientation sessions in Meeting Room 1C:
Friday, January 28 1-2:30 PM OR
Saturday, January 29 11 AM - 12:30 PM.
If you would like to volunteer, but cannot make either of these sessions, we will make other arrangements with you.

Discover more information about the exhibit and related programs at mcpl.info/ourvoice. Please note that masks are required for all visitors to the Library.
