Have you ever watched a baking show and thought, “I could do that!”? Now’s the time to prove yourself with the Great MCPL Kid’s Bake Off! We’re challenging you to make your best book-inspired dessert with our mystery ingredient - included in your Bake Off Kit, and available for pick-up at the downtown Children's Department. To be considered a "Star Baker," be sure to include the mystery ingredient in your dessert and be prepared to explain how a certain book or story helped you imagine the dessert you made! Share a picture of your creation to KidsBakeOff@mcpl.info by August 31st. The most creative dish (judged by Library staff!) will win a gift card to a local bakery! Please note that we are unable to accommodate dietary restrictions.

Are you a teen artist looking for a group of other teen artists to hang out with? Join us to show off your work, chat with fellow artists, do some crafts, and have fun! August 16, we'll be making Fairylight Jars! September 20th, we'll be making Mini Banned Books Jewelry! And on October 18th, we'll be making Spooky Squishies! Ages 12-19.

Do you enjoy video games and want to talk with other people about them? Join us as we discuss a new game and talk about game design, stories, art, and everything else. It's just like a book club, but with video games! In August, we'll play Fez and in September we'll dive into Slay the Spire. Each month, the games will be available to play on the second floor of the Downtown Library near the video game collection. Age 12 and up.

Listen to stories, sing songs, and do some yoga and mindfulness exercises to practice early literacy skills and wind down before bedtime. Feel free to come in pajamas. Ages birth–6.
