Youth Art Month Contest

Friday, March 31, 2023
All Branches
Calling all youth artists! For Youth Art Month, we're challenging you to create and submit an original 2D work of art based on the theme of our upcoming summer reading program: Camp Myth! For this theme, draw your favorite mythical beast or hero. You can even make up your own!

The winning artwork will be made into a collectible summer reading prize bookmark. Entries should be 3x7 inches. Starting March 1, you can stop by the Downtown Library children's information desk, the Ellettsville Branch, or the Bookmobile to grab a template, if needed. When you're finished, drop your entry off at any MCPL location by March 31 to enter.

Make sure your entry has the following information written legibly on the back: name, age, title of your artwork, MCPL location that you regularly visit (Downtown, Ellettsville, or Bookmobile), and contact information (including email address and/or telephone number). Ages birth–12.

The Working Hungry Film Screening

6:30 PM - 7:00 PM
Ellettsville Branch
Ellettsville Meeting Room A/B Combo
Join us for a screening of the documentary The Working HungryThe Working Hungry is a 30-minute film built around the stories of three families, and through them the stories of more than 700,000 people across the state of Indiana. Most of these are working families, and their hunger is hidden from those around them.

The compelling documentary asks why, in a time of low unemployment and food abundance, is food insecurity and hunger so prevalent? And what can be done? This film will dive deep into the reality of food insecurity in Indiana, and what more could be done to destigmatize the conversation, more clearly understand underlying causes, and truly end hunger. All ages.

This program is in partnership with Purdue Extension.
