New English speakers will practice everyday language skills in a relaxed, informal atmosphere. Learners will enjoy friendly conversation, learn about daily life in the U.S., gain confidence, and meet new people from around the world. 

Intermediate English skills are suggested.  If you do not speak English, please fill out the VITAL Services form to learn about programs for beginners. Conversation Groups are drop-in and no registration is needed.

Ivy Tech Career Demos: Kickoff Program

Join us for a collaborative program series with Ivy Tech Community College. Instructors from different departments will drop by to demonstrate the tools and activities available in their programs. For each event attended, you'll be entered to win a free class at Ivy Tech that will be available for you and one of your caregivers. The drawing will occur after the last session. Ages 12–19.
  • May 24: At this kickoff event, you'll learn some basics about Ivy Tech, get introduced to free classes you can win, have an introduction of the MCPL summer sessions you can attend, and play a Kahoot/trivia game.
  • June 14: The Entrepreneurship department and School of IT will host various activities.
  • June 28: The HVAC and Industrial Technology departments will host with equipment and an electrical activity.
  • July 12: The Nursing and Healthcare departments will host.
  • July 19: The Culinary department will host a “Board Building” activity, referring to charcuterie and fruit/cheese boards.
This program is in partnership with Ivy Tech Community College.

Preserving your memories, archiving, and sharing them can be a powerful way to connect with friends and family. In this open house, we'll teach you how to create digital files using our Memory Preservation Station. You can use a cloud storage account like Google Drive, Microsoft OneDrive, or Dropbox to save your content. Another option is to use a USB flash drive––you can bring your own or check one out from the Library for temporary use. Age 18 and up.
