Youth Art Month Contest

Sunday, March 31, 2024
All Branches
Calling all youth artists! For Youth Art Month, we're challenging you to create and submit an original 2D work of art based on the theme of our upcoming Summer Reading Program: space! For this theme, draw your favorite planet or space-themed item—you can even make up your own.

The winning artwork will be made into a collectible summer reading prize bookmark. Entries should be 3x7 inches. Starting March 1, you can stop by any MCPL location to grab a template. When you're finished, drop your entry off at any MCPL location by March 31 to enter.

Make sure your entry has the following information written legibly on the back: name, age, title of your artwork, MCPL location that you regularly visit, and contact information (including email address and/or telephone number). Ages birth–12.

Books on Tap: Legends & Lattes

6:30 PM - 8:00 PM
Other
It's the book club with a twist! Enjoy fantastic drinks, a comfortable atmosphere, and a great discussion on a variety of compelling books. This month, we'll be meeting at Lennie's Brewpub (514 E. Kirkwood Avenue, Bloomington). We'll be getting cozy with the #BookTok sensation Legends & Lattes by Travis Baldree. Age 21 and up. Please register.

Summary:
"Worn out after decades of packing steel and raising hell, Viv the orc barbarian cashes out of the warrior’s life with one final score. A forgotten legend, a fabled artifact, and an unreasonable amount of hope lead her to the streets of Thune, where she plans to open the first coffee shop the city has ever seen. However, her dreams of a fresh start pulling shots instead of swinging swords are hardly a sure bet. Old frenemies and Thune’s shady underbelly may just upset her plans. To finally build something that will last, Viv will need some new partners and a different kind of resolve."
